Intelligent Communications Controller The IP-302 is a general purpose IndustryPack ™ compatible module built around a 68302 Integrated Multi-protocol Processor. It features an on-board RS485 port, fully opto-isolated with transient suppression, operating over two/four wire asynchronously/synchronously. Speeds of up to 2 Mbits/second are achievable. The IP-302 is optimised for use as a gateway into BVM’s FieldLink distributed fieldbus network but it finds many applications in other communication areas where the microcode of the 68302 offers many advantages. In addition two further serial ports, two counter timers, a watchdog timer and 28 digital I/O lines are available as unbuffered TTL levels allowing the user to implement signal conditioning on an external transition module as required. Communication with the host IndustryPack ™ carrier is via the Dual Ported SRAM which also holds the code for its firmware. The code for the firmware is downloaded following system boot up. A comprehensive debug environment is available for use with OS-9 hosts
A-D Converter with High Accuracy and Opto-isolation The IP-ADC is a cost effective IndustryPack ™ compatible module providing sixteen analogue input channels which can be either differential or single ended. By careful design the component count in the front end has been kept low ensuring a minimum of induced noise and very low temperature drift.
The IP-ADC uses the AD7890 12 bit converter from Analogue Devices. This is fed by a sixteen channel multiplexor and instrumentation amplifier. The 11mS conversion times allow sustained conversion rates of over 90kHz on a single channel. The on-board precision voltage reference has very low drift characteristics ensuring continued accuracy over a broad range of operating environments. This reference can also be fed back to one of the input channels to provide a temperature compensation facility. Versions of the IP-ADC are available providing inputs of 0-5, 0-10Volt or 0-20 mA. A comprehensive driver for OS-9 is available providing field calibration facilities and also the option of data sampling to minimise noise effects in difficult environments

Opto-isolated Input / Output Modules The IP-IO20 family of cost effective IndustryPack ™ compatible modules providing twenty opto-isolated I/O connections. Three configurations are available as standard providing 20 input, 20 output or 10 input and 10 output respectively. Isolation of 2.5KVolts is maintained between any two I/O points and the IP bus enabling it to be used in a number of demanding applications. Each input will operate with an input current as low as 2ma. With the standard input resistors input voltages of up to 50Volts can be applied allowing the IP-IO20 to be directly connected to plant wiring. Each input line can be programmed to interrupt on change of state. The output lines are individually fed via solid state relays which provide isolation from line to line and from the logic interface. Each output is able to drive up to 100ma continuously with a power rating of 125mW. For more demanding applications extended environmental specification modules are available
